Widely
understood in China but little known in the West, Medical
Ch'i Kung is
a way of affecting and directing Ch'i, or one's life force, for medical
benefit. This is the same way that acupuncture and other Chinese medical
modalities work. The principles of treatment are the same, only the technique
varies; rather than using needles, herbs, or massage techniques, medical
Ch'i Kung relies on the ability to direct Ch'i with the mind and hands.
It involves working directly and subtly with a person's Ch'i in ways that
are not invasive, and are safer and gentler than acupuncture, acupressure,
or herbal medicine.
As such, it
is well suited for very sensitive people, children, and people in frail
health, but can be beneficial for absolutely anyone. Medical Ch'i Kung
can be used to treat many physical and emotional conditions that cannot
be dealt with using traditional medicine.
