Classical
Chinese Medicine
comprises a range of traditional medical practices used in China that
developed several thousand years ago. These practices include acupuncture,
herbal medicine, nutrition, exercise, meditation, massage, and Feng Shui.
Its methodologies are derived from Taoist philosophy which believes that
processes of the human body are interrelated and constantly interact with
the environment. Therefore, the methodology looks for the signs of disharmony
in the external and internal environment of a person in order to understand,
treat, and prevent illness and disease. Chinese medicine is based on a number
of philosophical frameworks, including Yin-Yang, Five Elements, the Meridian
system, and others. Diagnosis and treatment are conducted with reference
to these concepts.
Both classical
Chinese medicine and medical Ch'i Kung provide a safe and effective approach
to acute and chronic illnesses and are appropriate for newborns, children,
adults, the elderly, and pregnant women.
