Our incoming mail servers stopped accepting mail shortly after midnight on the morning of Thursday Jan 18, 2007. The problem was corrected around 8:00AM of the same day. Email bound for our system during those hours would have received a temporary delay error. This means mail sent to us should be delayed rather than bounced back to the original sender. To address future outages, we have already settled on a plan for an early detection system that will alert us to problems sooner.
UPDATE: the mail is flowing smoothly again as of about 10:30 am.
